CULTURAL WEEK 2017-18

As per the guidelines of University of Mumbai and Maharashtra University Act, our college constituted students’ council for the academic year 2017- 18. Mr. Ashwat Suvarna & Ms. Nirma Purohit were elected General & Cultural Secretary of the college, respectively.

In collaboration with Department of Students’ Development, University of Mumbai, we organized Workshop for the 50thYouth Festival on 27th July, 2017. Teacher & Student Coordinators of 26 colleges from Thane Central, Thane Western and Palghar Districts ( Zone 4 & 5) participated in the Workshop. Mr. Nilesh Sawe, University Coordinator, Youth Festival; Mr. Mahesh Deshmukh, District Coordinator Zone 5; Mr. Sanjay Mishra, District Coordinator Zone 4; Mrs. Monica Penkar, Co-Coordinator Zone 5; Mr. Nitin Arekar, Literary Arts Expert, Mr. Satish Mane, Fine Arts expert, etc. discussed the nitty gritties of the various competitions held during 50thYouth Festival. TheWorkshop was a grand success in numbers as well as the enthusiasm it instilled in participants for preparation of the Festival.

Our students participated in the 50thYouth Festival zonal round in Sonopant Dandekar college on 6th Aug, 2017. Ms. Srinidhi shetty & Ms. Shrutika Apte bagged 1st &3rd prize in Monoacting Group C & Group A respectively. Ms. Nirma Purohit won 2ndPrize in Collage. Ms. Manisha Joshi secured 2nd prize in Story Telling(Group B). Contingent also got 3rd Prize in both One Act Play (Group C) & Folk Dance Events. Ms. Shrutika Apte secured Consolation Prize in the Best Actor Category, One Act Play (Group A) in the finals held on 13th & 14th September, 2017. Our Folk Dance Team went on to win 2ndPrize in the Finals of 50thYouth Festival on 23rd September, 2017.

Ms. Chandrima Dutta won 2nd prize in the 2nd Inter University National Qawwali competition representing the team of University of Mumbai on 10- 11 October, 2017. She represented Mumbai University in 15th Maharashtra State Inter University Cultural Youth Festival Indradhanushya held at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, 5th to 9th November, 2017 and won 1st Prize in Indian Group Song & Western Group Song and 2nd Prize in One Act Play. She also bagged 3rd Prize in One Act Play in the Inter University zonal (West) youth festival held at M.L. Sukhadiya University, Udaipur, during 15th to 19th December, 2017. Ms. Dutta made the college proud by representing University of Mumbai at National level in the 33rd Inter University National level Youth Festival Palash and secured 1st Prize in One Act Play held at Ranchi University during 16th to 20th February, 2018.

Ms. Shrutika Aptewon Best Actress Consolation prize in Indian National Theatre, on 6th October, 2017. She also bagged Lakshwedhi actor in the Semi Final of Spandan One Act Play Competition on 20th December, 2017 ; 2nd prize in Monoacting in Aamhi sare vasaikar organized by Anna Saheb Vartak College on 20th September, 2017 & 2nd prize in Monoacting in rangvardhan Fest VJTI. Mr. Siddhesh Upkare won Best Actor Consolation prize in Indian National Theatre, on 6th October, 2017. He also bagged Lakshwedhi actor in the Semi Final of Spandan One Act Play Competition on 20th December, 2017. He earned Lakshvedhi actor in Kokan Kala Chashak on 5th December, 2017.

Mr. Harshvardhan Rathore won 1st, Mr. Siddhesh Upkare 3rd and Ms. Shrutika Apte Consolation prize in Monoacting in Mauj Fest organized by Saraf College on 6th February, 2018. In the same event Ms. Manisha Joshi Secured 2nd prize in Story Telling. Priyanka Patil & group won 3rd prize in Fashion Show in Momos Fest organized by KES Shroff college on 20th January, 2018.

Ms. Siddhi Ujal represented Maharashtra in Interstate dance competition during Republic Day Parade and won First Prize Various programmes were organised by Students’ Council. As per the tradition of our college, teachers’ day was celebrated with great fervour. Teachers were felicitated and presented with a token of love by the student’s community on 5thSeptember, 2017. 23rd Foundation Day of the college was celebrated on 19th September, 2017, where meritorious students of SSC and HSC from different schools and Jr. Colleges of Mira- Bhayander along with meritorious students of our college were felicitated. During NAAC Visit on 13th October, 2017 a programme was organized on the theme ‘ Mumbai Meri Jaan’ in which Cultural evolution of Mumbai City was presented through dance performances. A skit on women empowerment was also performed.

This year college organized cultural week VISION 2018 from 11th to 13th January, 2018.In this festival we organized competitions like General knowledge quiz, singing, cartooning, rangoli, mehendi, hairstyle, nail art, best out of waste, Fashion show, personality contest etc. and received an overwhelming response from the students.

Annual Day was organized on 20th Jan, 2018; around160 students participated in solo, duet and group dance, exhibiting various dance forms like classical, folk, hip hop, contemporary etc.
