As per the provision for formation of the students` council under section 40 (2) (b) of the Maharashtra Universities act,1994 at college level and the Maharashtra Universities (Amendment and Continuance) Act, 2000; the following members are herby nominated for Students` Council 2016-17.

Duties And Functions Of The Students' Council

The function of the Students’ Council formed under the provisions of section 40 (2) (a), section 40(2) (b) and section 40 (4) (a) and (b) of the Act, with reference to section 41 of the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 shall be:-

  • To organize, supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the different Students’ Associations, Societies and such other organizations such as Dance and Music Society, Dramatics Society, Debate and Elocution Society, Film and Photography Society etc; formation and functioning of which will beas decided in the meeting of the respective students’ Council as per the requirement of the respective activities and as approved by the appropriate authorities/officials/officers.

  • To recommend to the appropriate authorities/officials/officers, the financial allocations to be made for the activities to be undertaken under the relevant budgetary heads

  • To allocate funds for the different activities of the Students Associations, Societies and other organizations as sanctioned by the appropriate authorities/officials/officers.

  • To submit an annual report of its work together with a statement of its accounts to the appropriate authorities/officials/officers on or before the date to be fixed for the same from time to time

  • To make recommendations to the appropriate authorities/officials in respect of any matter affecting the corporate life of the welfare of the students.

  • To make recommendations to the appropriate authorities/officials regarding the existing facilities for institution.

  • To make recommendations to the appropriate authorities/officials for setting the genuine grievance of the students.

Cultural Committee & Students' Council Report 2016-17

As per the guidelines of University of Mumbai and Maharashtra University Act, our college constituted students’ council for the academic year 2016-17. Ms. Ghag Priyanka was selected Cultural Secretary of the college. Cultural Committee and Students Council gives an opportunity to students to explore the creative world and helps in development of leadership qualities and hence culminating in their overall personality development.

Our students participated in the 49th Youth Festival Zonal elimination round on 6th Aug, 2016 organised by the Department of Students’ Welfare, University of Mumbai and won many prizes. More Aishwarya and Mestry Vaibhavi won first prize in Debate Group A. Shaikh Afaque and Dwivedi Aditi bagged third prize in Debate Group B. Ghag Priyanka and Gosain Kiran achieved second position in Monoacting in Group A and Group B respectively. Dutta Chandrima received third prize in Indian Light Vocal Category. Our Drama team won third prize in Skit Group C. Patel Parmi made the college proud by winning first prize in Collage making Competition at the Zonal Level and third prize in the University Finals held on 22nd Aug, 2016. Ms. Ghag Priyanka and Ms. Dhuri Sonal represented University of Mumbai in 32nd West Zone inter university competition “Satrang” held at Ganpat University from 6th to 10th Jan, and won prize for being part of the winning University team.

Parmi Patel bagged first prize in Collage in Rudra Fest organized by Smt. Parmeshwari devi Durgadutt Tibrewala Lions Juhu College on 24th jan, 2017. Kiran Gusain and Harshvardhan Rathore won 2nd and 3rd prize in Monoacting Dhirajben Chimanlal Gandhi Antar Mahavidyalayeen Pratiyogita organized by M.D. Shah Mahila College on 31st Jan, 2017 and also won the coveted rotating trophy. Aditi Dwivedi, Dolly Chaturvedi, Deepa Pandey, Priyanka Barnwal and Rinku Suthar won 3rd parize in Maths Smarty in Matema Fest organized by B. K. Shah college on 29th Nov, 2016.

Our Students made their presence felt in Fine Arts events too. Jinal Nar won 1st prize in Mehendi in Pankh Fest organized by Ladhidevi Ramdhar Maheshwari College on 5th Jan, 2017 & 3rd prize in Mauj Fest organized by Ghanshyam Das Saraf College on 16th Dec, 2016. Raj Machhi bagged second prize in Rangoli in Mridang Fest organized by Reena Mehta College on 16th Dec, 2016 & 2nd prize in Spandhan Fest organized by St. Xaviers college on 29th Jan, 2017. Nisha Chauhan won 3rd Prize in Make up and Hairstyle Competition in Pravah Fest organized by Nagindas Khandwala College on 17th December, 2016. Jyoti Gupta won 2nd prize in Nail Art Competition in Rudra Fest organized by Smt. Parmeshwari devi Durgadutt Tibrewala Lions Juhu College on 24th jan, 2017. Poonam Gupta won 3rd prize in mehendi in Artistry fest organized by Bhausaheb Vartak College on 9th Feb, 2017.

Shweta Singh was crowned Ms. Tarang in Tarang Fest organized by Reena Mehta College on 19th Jan, 2017. Shumaila Khan won the title of Ms. Rudra and Anuj Singh won Runner up Mr. Rudra in Rudra Fest organized by Smt. Parmeshwari devi Durgadutt Tibrewala Lions Juhu College on 24th jan, 2017. Shraddha Chibade and group bagged 1st prize in group dance in Tarang Fest organized by Reena Mehta College on 19th Jan, 2017. Anurag and Harshal won 2nd prize in stand up comedy Competition in Pravah Fest organized by Nagindas Khandwala College on 17th December, 2016.

Mayuri Patil won 1st prize in Essay Writing and Vaibhav Panchal bagged 3rd prize in Elocution Competition in K. M. Munshi Trophy organized by Bhavans College on 8th Feb, 2017. Along with mayuri and Vaibhav, Aishwarya More and Purva Gorule won the rotating K. M. Munshi Memorial Trophy for the best participating college.

Various programmes were organised by As per the tradition of our college, teachers day was celebrated with great fervour. Teachers were felicitated and presented with a token of love by the student’s community on 3rd September, 2016. 22nd Foundation Day of the college was celebrated on 19th September, 2016, where meritorious students of SSC and HSC from different schools and Jr. Colleges of Mira- Bhayander along with meritorious students of our college. Hon. Vishnu Savraji, Minister of Tribal Development, Maharashtra State graced the occasion of Foundation Day as Chief Guest. Many eminent personalities from academic and administrative field made the event memorable. On this Occassion Dr. Asha Mukundan, the Principal pf Jhunjhunwala College who was awarded Smt. Savitri Bai Phule Award for Ideal Teacher, was also felicitated. On 6th February, 2017 Farewell Function was organized for TYBA & TYBCom students, where management, teachers and students poured their hearts out with mixed feeling of sorrow of parting and a vision towards a bright future.

This year college organized cultural week VISION 2017 from 6th to 9th Jan, 2017. In this festival we organized competitions like General knowledge quiz, singing, Instrumental, cartooning, rangoli, mehendi, hairstyle, nail art, best out of waste, Fashion show, personality contest etc. and we received an overwhelming response from the students.

Annual Day was organized on 14th Jan, 2017; around150 students participated in solo, duet and group dance, exhibiting various dance forms like classical, folk, hip hop, contemporary etc. We had the honour of having eminent guests for the Annual Day Mrs. India 2016 Mrs. Mohini Sharma Mane and TV Actor Anlesh Desai. Lastly, I would like to thank all the judges who have given their precious time & efforts to make these events a grand success.

Drama Association

Our College has a very active drama association that has made its presence felt at the university Competition where two of our students( Priyanka Ghag & Kiran Gosain) won prizes for Monoacting in 49th Youth Festival Zonal Competition on 6th August, 2016. Skit named Hum Gandhari ke Waris stole prizes as well as everyone’s heart. The Drama team Participated in IPTA( Hindi Drama Competition) with Act: “Naee Subah” on 21st September, 2016 and INT( Marathi Drama Competition) Act : “ Anamik” Pre elimination round on 1st Oct, 2016 & elimination Round on 6th Oct, 2016. In Brahma One Act Play competition the team performed Act titled Brain in Elims on 15th Jan, 2017 and Final on 19th Jan, 2017. The act won Best Music Award and Shreyas Hardkar won Best Actor consolation prize.
