Shankar Narayan College of Arts and Commerce was established in the year 1994 under the strong visionary leadership of Shri Rohidasji Patil who is a philanthropist and the founder chairman of Shree Shankar Narayan Eductaion Trust. The trust has always stood for quality and excellence in the society. The trust runs a degree College, a junior college, a polytechnic college, a management institute and an institute for administrative careers imparting education through professional courses and training for civil service examinations. All these institutes collectively impart education to around 7300 students. The vision of the institute is to be one of the best colleges in Mumbai and Thane region.

Today, the role of a college is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be life long learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of an ever-changing global society, where they are encouraged to channelise their potential in the pursuit of excellence.

Shankar Narayan College has always been a beacon of light, guiding the destiny of its students. It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that all the students of TYBFM, TYBBI and TYBA (Political Science and History) passed with flying colours, making the result 100% in these subjects. Even the students of other courses and subjects have shown significant improvement in the result which is praiseworthy.

I am fortunate to have an experienced and committed team, which has brought the college to its present stature. I intend to build on this strong foundation and raise the standards in all spheres. My aim is not only to be an able administrator but also to be a friend, philosopher and guide to students, one whom they can count on and trust at all times.

I conclude with “Knowing others is wisdom. Knowing yourself is enlightenment”. In the short span, the college has achieved many milestones. In 2006, the college was accredited by NAAC, Bangalore and was awarded with 'A' Grade. This year, the re- accreditation process has begun and our ambition is to acquire an 'A' Grade. With excellence as the watchword, the management is determined to lead the institution on the progressive path. The goodwill, co-operation and enormous support of the parents and well wishers spur us to reach pinnacle of glory. I express my heartfelt thanks to all as the principal of the college.
