Domicile certificate is a document that certifies a person’s residential status in a particular state. The certificate is used to avail various services provided by the Government such as admissions, job placements, and the likes of it. This article explains the procedure to obtain a domicile certificate in the State of Maharashtra.

Eligibility

Any person from the State of Maharashtra could obtain this certificate, provided that he or she is a resident in the State for the last 15 years.

Documents Required

• Certificate of age proof such as birth certificate, school certificate, etc
• Document portraying the address such as ration card or driving license
• Proof of residence
• Self-declaration form
• Two photographs of Voter ID or College or University ID
• Duly filled application form
• Proof of identity
• Photocopies of all documents duly attested by a government official
• An affidavit from tehsil or court

Application Procedure

The following steps are the procedure to apply for domicile certificate:

1. As is the case with any application procedure, the applicant needs to obtain an application form, either through online means or from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, Tehsildar’s office or District collector’s office.
2. After obtaining the same, the applicant needs to fill the details requested in the form.
3. The form, along with the essential documents (as have been specified above) must be attached with the application, and the same must be submitted to the Setu Centre of Maharashtra.

After completing the above procedures, the applicant would receive the certificate within 30 days. The applicant must remit a fee of Rs.50 for the same. Once received, the certificate would be valid for the entire lifetime of the recipient.

Online Application Procedure

To obtain the Caste Certificate online, the applicant must follow the below-given steps:

1. The applicant must visit the official website of Maharashtra
2. Click on the “Caste Certificate” option under the Revenue Department on the homepage
3. On the next page, read the given instruction and click on the “Apply” button
4. Select the required category of caste from the dropdown list
5. Now provide all the required details in the application form and click on the “Save” button. Also, take the print out of this receipt and application

Offline Procedure

The applicant can obtain the application form by visiting the nearest Tahsildar office. You may also download the application online. Hence, a copy of the application form is enclosed below.

After filling the application form, enclose all the required documents. Then submit the application and documents along with the prescribed fee. The applicant will be charged Rs.5/- as registration fee. Therefore, the applicant will be notified to obtain the Caste Certificate within the specified time.

Track Caste Certificate Status

Using the official portal of Maharashtra, the applicant can obtain the Caste Certificate application status. Click on the Track your application button and enter your application ID. The status of the application saved will be displayed.
