Placement & Career Guidance Cell

The commitment of a teacher towards the students also includes equipping the students to perform well in the competitive world. The Placement Cell and Career Guidance Cell of Shankar Narayan College aims to ensure that students have the information and skills necessary for an effective job search.

The college has an integrated Career Guidance Cell and Placement Cell. The institute has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the Cells. The Cells are sensitized to function all through the year generating placement and career opportunities for the students.


  • Creating awareness among the students regarding available career options and helping them in identifying their career objectives.

  • Guiding the students in developing skills and job search strategies required to achieve their career objectives.

  • Identifying suitable potential employers. Arranging preplacement talks, seminars, presentations and workshops.

  • Organising activities like campus interview and off campus interview.


  • Co-ordinates career counseling and placement related activities conducted by various organizations.

  • The Cell invites various service providers like IT companies, prominent BPOs, Banks, Aviation sector, Management Institutes etc., to conduct recruitment drives, seminars, workshops and presentations on the jobs and career opportunities available for students.

  • Personality Development workshops on Corporate culture, etiquette and leadership skills are held throughout the year.

  • The Cell disseminates information regarding the availability of jobs. The Cells have a separate notice board for display of notices regarding competitive examinations, Job Fairs, Education Fairs, various government and non- government courses.

  • The Cell has annually updated computerized database of students who seek jobs.

The Committee is available to respond to student’s question and concern of all kinds. This may include advice on placement procedures, help with preparation of applications and resumes and practice for interviews. All advice is based on up-to-date placement statistics and an envisioned view of future and educational and industrial trends. We hope to reach maximum placements level in the years to come.


  • Arena Animation, Mira Road organized a workshop on “Career opportunities in Animation” on 21st July 2016.

  • On 16th July 2016 a Campus interview was held by ICICI Bank, Bandra. More than…… participated in the online Aptitude test and ….appeared for the interview.

  • Jetking, Borivali conducted a workshop on “Day to day life. Tips and Tricks”, on 21st July 2016.

  • Ms. Dreena Dsouza, Area Head of NIIT, Thane organized a seminar on “ Career in Banking and IT”on27th July 2016.

  • Mr. Dharmendra Sharma from Krish Enterprises, Kandivali conducted a campus interview on 1st August 2016. The Placement Cell assists students in procuring part-time jobs and summer jobs and also encourages the “earn while you learn” concept. ….students were selected to work for Godrej as Data Collectors.

  • The Regional Head of Aliff Overseas Consultants, Mr. Anand Rohit addressed the students on 4th August 2016 on “Education Abroad”.

  • Vasai Janata Bank, Bhayandar in its promotional drive encouraged the students to open a Zero Balance Account in the months of August and September 2016. It drew an an overwhelming response from the students.

  • On 3rd December 2016, Mr. Satyajit addressed the TYBCom students on Financial Markets and job opportunities available in this sector”

  • BlueWhale Academy from Andheri conducted a Seminar on “ Career Opportunities in Travel and Tourism” as well as guided the students on Interview Skills and Effective CV on 20th December 2016.

  • INFOSYS BPO, Bangalore chose our college as the host college for Thane District in its recruitment drive on 9th January 2017. It was a proud and memorable moment for the college and its Placement Cell. 150 students from eight colleges participated. Mr. Amit Mishra, Associates- Lead Talent Acquisition made a presentation about the company and the job profile. After various rounds of Group Discussions, Aptitude Tests, Voice Tests, Written tests and Personal Interviews, 23 students were selected.

  • A Career Guidance Workshop was held on 20th January 2017 by B.Ed and D.Ed Rahul education Group. Many Bcom and BA students benifitted from the talk.

  • DNA conducted an Employability test on 24th January 2017 for all the Final year students. More than 100 students took the test. “ Turning Point “ activity by DNA was to drive employment through research on employment using psychometric assessments for the final year graduates affiliated to Mumbai University.

  • Columbus Academy organized a seminar on “Career opportunities in the Aviation Industry” on 30th January 2017

  • Mr. Raj Mhatre, Administrative Officer from RPIMS addressed the final students from Degree College and Self Financing Courses on how to appear for the CET exam to be held on the 5th of March 2017.

  • Mr. Raj Joshi, a PhD Research Scholar from Narsee Monjee College motivated and guided the students on how to perform well in the CET Exam to be held on 5th March 2017.

  • Mr. Dharmendra Sharma from Krish Enterprises, Kandivali selected 35 students in a campus Interview held in the month of February 2017 for ‘ChatChit’.

The Placement and Career Guidance Cell acknowledges and appreciates the cooperation given by the Coordinators of Professional Courses. The combined effort has helped us go a long way in securing the right job for the right student.

The Placement Cell and Career Guidance Cell would also like to thank the Management, Principal, our faculty and non-teaching staff for being highly cooperative and supportive in providing the best arrangements and hospitality for the recruiting companies and institutes.

The Placement Cell has secured placements for many students. The count is still on the rise since the placement support is an ongoing process, with selections taking place all year round.
